Green Home supplies compostable disposabe food catering products - including utensils, plates, bowls, cups, bags and food containers - which are designed to replace conventional petroleum-based disposable food catering products (e.g. polystyrene, clear plastic and wax lined cups, burger boxes etc).  All their products are made from naturally renewable, non-GMO materials including cellulose and plant waste material.  After use, the product can be placed in a compost bin and will completely biodegrade. Their products are imported from America, however Green Home is currently exploring options for local production.

 ECOPACK 
EcoPack is a supplier of biodegradable packaging, specialising in the food and beverage market and especially relevent to single-use packaging. They even produce cups, plates, bowls and cutlery that are compostable! The products are made from renewable plant-material and are entirely biodegradable, according to the EN13432 standards for an industrial composting site. The company appears to be catering not only for the average consumer, but also for other businesses and organisations that could use compostable packaging as a marketing tool. EcoPack is a member of the Earthly Directions Group of Companies.

 FLEXIPACK
This comapny makes compostable containers which are suitable for food items and non-food items (e.g. fruit trays).The containers are made in Somerset West (Western Cape) from 99.95% first grade waste paper and 0,05% FDA approved Alkaline paper sizing agent and is moulded to shape. The company also supplies bio-degradbale and compostable films called NatureFlex which is imported from America and based on renewable resources (wood-pulp from managed plantations). According to information on the manufacturers website (www.innoviafilms.com) Natureflex compostable films are certified to the European and American ’OK Compost Home’ standard, which means it can be successfully composted in a home Composting environment and will typically break down in a few weeks.
